We will look at how to communicate before, during and after the clinic and how that can be continued beyond the clinic itself.

Join the webinar to pick up tips on how to behave in a clinic and how to structure and manage your time, and get guidance on going through different exam techniques and what to do if it gets challenging.

The presentation will go though senior pet testing and what you can offer in your clinics and then moving on to how to have those difficult discussions with your owners. Beth will go through quality-of-life evaluation and how you can support your clients after the consult with the help of other therapies/treatments. She is grateful to work with RVN Hannah Olliff-Lee who is also a qualified animal physiotherapist, and she has shared some of her knowledge around home adaptations and canine massage. Finally, we'll then explain how to end and follow up the clinic and hopefully give you some confidence about doing your geriatric clinics going forward.

Meet Beth and Hannah! 🦁🐯

Beth Kirwan, Head Registered Veterinary Nurse @ Pennard Vets

Beth started her first nursing job in April 2001 in a small animal practice in Kent. She qualified in 2004. Since then, she has worked as an equine nurse, worked in multiple mixed and small animal practices, including referral practices. She has also been a locum nurse all over the UK. Beth took her first Head Nurse Job in 2007. She currently works at Pennard Vets in Sevenoaks as the Head Nurse with a fantastic team, including Hannah Olliff-Lee RVN who works in the marketing team and is with us today. Beth's passions are nutrition, senior pet care, medical nursing and mental health & wellbeing. Beth qualified as a Mental Health First Aider in 2019 to help promote mental health and wellbeing in practice. She lectured for the first time at BVNA this year where she delivered 2 lectures in the Geriatric Nursing stream. She lives in Tunbridge Wells with her two daughters Ruby, and Darcie and their 3 senior cats Turbo, Dizzy & Drifter. In Beth's free time she enjoys family time, running, singing and going to see live bands.

Hannah Olliff-Lee, RVN & Animal physiotherapist

Hannah Olliff-Lee (@Physio.vetnurse) qualified from City and Islington college in 2014 and pursued her love of rehabilitation to qualify as an animal physiotherapist in 2020. Hannah has had a variety of roles throughout her career such as clinical coach, Head nurse and Nursing team lead. These roles lead to her interest in communication, well-being and self-development. Hannah loves being able to teach people about small changes that can make a big difference to your pet's mobility and longevity #mobilitymatters
